Co-Founding Partner and CEO

Axel Despriet is CEO of Mitiska REIM, which he co-founded in 2008.

Axel has an extensive background in real estate, having previously worked at GLL Real Estate Partners in Munich and Catella Property Group. Axel holds a degree in civil engineering from the KU Leuven and a master’s degree in general management from Vlerick Business School in Ghent.

Co-Founding Partner and Executive Chairman

Luc Geuten is Executive Chairman of Mitiska REIM and Executive Chairman of Mitiska, which is the founding company of Mitiska REIM. He has extensive experience in retail and real estate, both as a serial entrepreneur and investor.

Luc holds an MBA from Harvard University and a degree in civil engineering from UC Louvain, and started his career at McKinsey & Co.

Senior Director, Head of Investor Relations & Corporate Communications

Sylvie Geuten-Carpentier is Senior Executive Director at Mitiska REIM and CEO of Mitiska, which is the founding company of Mitiska REIM. In addition to having functional responsibility for investor relations and corporate communications, she is also a member of the dedicated Polish investment team.

Sylvie has over 25 years’ experience in retail and consumer business operations, having previously held senior roles at ExxonMobil and The Coca-Cola Company. She holds a degree in business engineering from KU Leuven and a master’s degree in financial management from Vlerick Business School in Ghent.

Member of the Investment Committee (Western Europe), Investment Director

Jan Du Bois joined Mitiska REIM in 2006. In addition to being a member of the dedicated Spanish and Portuguese investment team, he is a member of the Investment Committee with a focus on Western Europe.

Head of Corporate Finance and M&A

Bart Rabaey is Head of Corporate Finance and M&A and joined Mitiska REIM in 2019.

Bart has over 10 years’ experience in private equity and M&A having previously worked at Bencis Capital Partners and Maple Finance Group. Prior to joining Mitiska REIM, Bart was CFO at Van de Velde, a leading international player in luxury lingerie, listed on Euronext.

Bart holds a master’s degree in applied economics from the University of Ghent, and a master’s degree in Financial Management from the Vlerick Business School in Ghent.

Investment Director Central & Eastern Europe

Tomas Cifra joined Mitiska REIM in 2017 as an Investment Director dedicated to Romania, Serbia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In addition, Tomas is a member of the Corporate Finance & Transaction team.

Prior to joining Mitiska REIM, Tomas was Director Corporate Finance at KBC Securities. He holds a master’s degree in finance and financial management services from the Vlerick Management School in Gent and a master’s degree in business management from the Comenius University in Bratislava.

Chief Financial Officer

Bert Heyman is CFO and joined Mitiska REIM in 2018.

Prior to joining Mitiska REIM, Bert was Head of Finance at Elicio, a leading developer, asset owner and operator of wind parks in Belgium, France and Serbia. He started his career in corporate and investment banking at NIBC Bank.

Bert holds a master’s degree in financial management from the Vlerick Management School as well as a master in commercial sciences from Ehsal Management School.

General Counsel

Matthias Van Dorpe is General Counsel and joined Mitiska REIM in 2017. He is also a member of the German investment team.

Matthias has over 15 years’ experience in corporate and real estate law and joined Mitiska REIM from a major real estate developer, having previously worked at NautaDutilh and Loyens & Loeff. He holds a master’s degree in law from KU Leuven and a masters in corporate law from KU Brussels / KU Leuven.
